Turmail Dubbed A-10 co-Pitcher of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis junior right-hander Scott Turmail (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) has claimed Atlantic 10 Conference co-Pitcher of the Week honors for the period ending March 16, as announced today by the league office. It is the second time this season Turmail has been honored as A-10 Pitcher of the Week. Turmail combined for 8-1/3 innings last week in two appearances. Against Fontbonne on Wednesday, he entered the game in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded and two outs. He got the potential tying run to pop out to shallow center field, and in doing so picked up his first career save. Saturday against Dartmouth in Bradenton, Fla., Turmail worked eight innings of shutout baseball, allowing just three hits while fanning seven and walking one. For the season, Turmail sports a 3-1 record and a 2.05 ERA in five appearances, four of which were starts. He has struck out 22 on the season and walked just three. Earlier this season, Turmail picked up A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors in addition to CollegeBaseballInsider.com Regional Player of the Week honors after pitching a complete-game shutout at Belmont. The Billikens (6-7) have won four straight games and continue their spring break trip this week in Bradenton, Fla. They face UMBC at 2 p.m. (CT) today, Lafayette at 9 a.m. (CT) Tuesday and wrap up their stay in Florida with a 9 a.m. matchup against Ohio State Wednesday. SLU opens conference play on Friday, March 21, with a three-game set at Charlotte.
