Donigan Named NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year

Dec. 26, 2007

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis head men's soccer coach Dan Donigan has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. Along with assistant coaches Matt Tutton, Dave Beck and Martin Hutton, Donigan oversaw a team that featured an unprecedented five NSCAA All-Region first-teamers and nine All-Conference honorees.

The Billikens, who were ranked atop the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region coaches' poll the entire season, went 12-2-5 in 2007, resulting in an Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Donigan picked up A-10 Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season as the Billikens posted an 8-1-0 mark in conference action.

In seven seasons at the helm of the Billikens, Donigan has compiled a 91-30-18 overall record, which includes a 49-10-6 record in conference games. He has led the Billikens to the NCAA Tournament in five of his seven seasons and has a 5-4-1 record in tournament play. He was named Conference USA Coach of the Year in 2001 and NSCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2003.

Since taking over the program in 2001, Donigan has had five players earn NSCAA All-America honors, 28 earn All-Region accolades and 53 collect All-Conference honors.

Donigan, along with eight other NSCAA Regional Coaches of the Year and three additional coaches whose teams advanced to the College Cup, are eligible for NSCAA/adidas National Coach of the Year honors. Those recipients will be announced at the Association's annual Awards Banquet, to be held Friday, Jan. 18, in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention in Baltimore, Md.
