Email Coach Young
After a standout four-year career as the Billikens' sweeper, Kelly Young was named assistant coach in July 2003. In addition to her on-field coaching responsibilities, Young will assist head coach Tim Champion in the organization of travel, practices and recruiting.
After graduating from the University with an elementary education degree in 2001, Young gained coaching experience at Notre Dame High School in St. Louis. An assistant coach on the varsity girls squad, she also coached the girls C team for two years before moving up to coach the JV girls squad in 2003. In 2002, Young also coached the JV boys team at John Burroughs High School and assisted with the varsity squad at the school as well.
As a Billiken Young spearheaded a defensive unit that ranked among the nation's top 15 in goals against average in 1999 and 2000. She ended her career as one of the program's most decorated players, as she was a two-time Conference USA first-team selection and twice named to the NSCAA's All-Region team. In addition to her leadership on the field, Young was an inspiration to her teammates in the classroom, becoming the program's first NSCAA Scholar All-American a senior.
Young lives in St. Charles, Mo., and is currently pursuing her master's degree in elementary school counseling.
