Five Billikens Earn Atlantic 10 Accolades

Nov. 8, 2007

ST. LOUIS - Senior back Liz Fox (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu) headlines a group of five Saint Louis players who garnered Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer postseason honors.

Fox was selected to the All-Conference first team, while sophomore forward Julia Bradenberg (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline) was chosen to the All-Conference second team. Freshman forward Alyssa Mautz (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt West) collected All-Rookie plaudits. Senior midfielder Mary Green (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) and junior back Lauren Olson (Plano, Texas/Ursuline) represented the Billikens on the Academic All-Conference team, making Saint Louis the only institution with more than one student-athlete selected.

Fox is a key component of a Saint Louis back line that allowed just eight goals in 11 A-10 games, and she tallied an assist on the game-winning goal in the Bills' 1-0 win at Missouri State. She was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 first team earlier this month.

Bradenberg, an All-Conference second-team member and the A-10 Rookie of the Year last season, is third on the team in goals (three) and points (eight) despite missing three games due to injury. She notched a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Massachusetts, assisted on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 triumph over George Washington and scored the game-tying goal against Rhode Island in the Billikens' 2-1 double-overtime victory. Bradenberg was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com College Team of the Week and the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week for the period ending Oct. 28.

Mautz is tied for the team lead with five goals and is second with 11 points. She netted game-winning goals against Massachusetts, Saint Joseph's, La Salle and Southeast Missouri State, and she added a second goal and an assist in the SEMO match. The performance against SEMO brought her A-10 Rookie of the Week recognition.

Green and Olson are two of three Billikens to start every game this season. Green was a CoSIDA Academic All-District second-team choice, while Olson joined Fox on the Academic All-District first team.

Green, a repeat A-10 All-Academic honoree, has two goals and an assist. She registered the game-winning goal in SLU's 1-0, double-overtime victory over Army and also found the back of the net to help the Billikens down St. Bonaventure 2-0. Green was named the Most Valuable Player of SLU's Toys for Tots Tournament, an honor that led to TopDrawerSoccer.com College Team of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 16. Olson assisted on the game-winning goal in the Bills' 2-1, double-overtime triumph over Rhode Island.

Saint Louis (10-5-2, 7-2-2 A-10) is the No. 4 seed for the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament and will face fifth-seeded Dayton in the first round today at 7 p.m. (CT) at Transamerica Field in Charlotte. The Billikens are vying to become only the second team to collect three consecutive A-10 Tournament titles.
