Bills Tie Indiana State in Five Innings

March 26, 2008

Box Score

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis and Indiana State completed five innings of scoreless softball on Wednesday afternoon at The Billiken Sports Center before the game was called due to lightning and inclement weather. The Sycamores plated two runs in the top of the sixth, but with the Bills not getting the chance to bat in the bottom half of the inning the game ended in a five-inning 0-0 tie.

ISU (8-13-1) put a runner on courtesy of a two-out single in the first and a second Sycamore advanced to first when she was hit by a pitch from SLU starter Stacy Gillette (1-6) in the third. But neither runner made it any farther than first base as Gillette retired the side each time.

The Billikens' only offense, and baserunner, came from Caitlin Trevillyan, who had a bunt single to leadoff the game.

The Sycamores threatened in the fifth after the leadoff batter singled to right center, but she was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double. One out later, Brittaney Searing singled through the left side but Gillette got the next batter to fly out to left field to escape the inning.

Saint Louis (11-15-1) returns to action on Friday, March 28, with a 2 p.m. (CT) game against La Salle in Philadelphia, Pa.
